AM I WILLING TO GIVE MY 120% IN WHAT I DO?
After going through these few days, definitely. Even though in the IA we are empowered to be switched on at all times, I hadn't actually realized how essential this was until this week. Recently we have been doing so much related to starting our organization; dividing the roles was by far the one that required more attention. At first I was pretty switched off, with my mind probably dazing elsewhere because it was a Monday...
But then, it hit me: every minute is worth GOLD. Starting a company along with 22 other people isn't something easy, and at first I thought: if one person is switched off, what difference does it make? It makes a BIG one. The differences between class discussions with some people participating and those with every member participating were evident . ONE idea, ONE person, can change things, and to have a culture of excellence, those small ideas must be heard to have the best possible product. |
When we divided the roles on Monday, we were each working on a second task apart from writing the article, but the one I chose was different. Nikki and I took charge of making a documentary of the entire process, which unlike the other tasks, must be actively worked on since NOW. The taking of two tasks at a time is no piece of cake; balancing time and effort between both writing the article and making the documentary will get difficult. I just need to be prepared to switch my mind on and be open to working both tasks. |
When the researching stage was about to begin, we realized something: we had no target audience for our final magazine. Without a target audience, we had no direction, thus we would be completely lost. This called for a pivot.
As a class we decided to go a step b a c k w a r d s and find this target audience, but instead of focusing on young enterpreneurs, we had to actually find these entrepreneurs. Picking them out will give us a more specific idea on what the magazine should look like because their opinions can help us.
This, for example, was something that never would have crossed my mind, but staying switched on made me realize how important it was, and putting my maximum effort WILL help me identify this target audience.

What really impressed me this week was that since we were all reaching for a common goal, we were all willing to give our 120% in class. By doing so, I feel that we are becoming more united, and are growing together .Having a common goal can really build trust within a community, and this is what I have been seeing during these past couple of days working on the magazine company--our magazine company. |
Before choosing the organizations we wanted to research, we had to develop our own criteria to identify any company's
GREATNESS . After discussing this criteria for a long time, I realized that I had never felt so much power over something before; the outcome of our magazine was entirely up to us and correct decision-making never felt so crucial. The future of this IA'17 magazine (which still has no name) is entirely in our hands, and it is our responsibility to make it something of value. For this to be possible, a switched-on community with every member giving their 120% must be present.
